NAKIVO Makes VM Archiving to Cloud Significantly More Affordable with v3.5

NAKIVO updates the Free Edition in v3.5 of NAKIVO Backup & Replication to enable archiving to cloud as well as adds new features to the paid editions of the product.

The new version extends the functionality of the Free Edition to enable automated integration with Amazon Cloud and also adds new features to the paid editions of the product – such as staged replication and reuse of existing VM backups and replicas – as well as other performance and reliability improvements.

CLOUD INTEGRATION: Amazon Cloud is a cost-effective and reliable destination for keeping VM backups. In v3.5, the Free Edition can be automatically integrated with Amazon Cloud in less than ten minutes, complete a 2GB VM backup to Amazon Cloud within five minutes, and recover files from a VM backup at Amazon Cloud in under one minute. The Free Edition can also utilize advanced VM data protection features, including Network Acceleration to increase data transfer speed, Deduplication and Compression to reduce data size, and AES 256 Encryption to ensure data security.

STAGED REPLICATION: VMs are often large, causing the initial (full) VM replication to be slow and can also put an undesirable load on the network. To speed up the initial VM replication and save network bandwidth, NAKIVO Backup & Replication can perform staged replication. This feature provides the ability to back up or replicate to a removable media (such as an external USB drive) and then create a new replication job that will use the transferred VMs as a target and perform only incremental replication.

REUSE OF BACKUPS AND REPLICAS: If a backup or replication job is lost (due to accidental job deletion, or because jobs need to be recreated in a new copy of the product), NAKIVO Backup & Replication enables the mapping of new jobs to existing source VMs, backups, and replicas to avoid transferring full VM data over the network again.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication comes in two paid editions that have the same feature set:

The Essentials Edition works only with VMware vSphere Essentials and Essentials+ and costs $199 (€169, £149) per socket.
The Pro Edition works with VMware vSphere Essentials, Essentials+, Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise+ and costs $399 (€329, £269) per socket.
