GynePro is a medical center in Bologna, Italy, that specializes in fertility, reproduction, prenatal health and urogynecology. GynePro has three sites, four physical servers, two NAS servers and 20 virtual machines. Virtual machines store different data, including documents, medical reports, accounting data, as well as applications, such as Windows File Server, Mexal, Viewpoint and Arxivar. Data protection is fundamental for the center, in order to maintain the accuracy of medical data, including patient information that needs to be stored over time. If critical data becomes unavailable and there is no proper backup solution in place, GynePro would not be able to provide appropriate care to its patients because different medical equipment would just be not operational. In the past, backup activities at GynePro were limited to backing up and recovering single files.
