Here’s a detailed overview of the new features and enhancements in version v10.11.

Alarms and Reporting for IT Monitoring

Version 10.11 builds upon the existing functionality of IT Monitoring for VMware and provides more monitoring capabilities to easily keep track of your infrastructure’s performance.

You can now create and configure custom alerts, which will be triggered based on various metrics for hosts, VMs, and datastores. This allows you to proactively detect any unusual load in your VMware infrastructure that can be a sign of malicious activity. Additionally, you can view, export, and email different types of reports about the monitored vSphere items in your infrastructure.

Backup for Oracle RMAN on Linux

NAKIVO Backup & Replication integrates seamlessly with Oracle Database backup and recovery via the native RMAN functionality, simplifying data protection activities from a unified console. Existing functionality supports backup via RMAN for Oracle Database on Windows. The latest version extends this support to include Oracle databases running on Linux systems.

File System Indexing

It’s important to be able to quickly find a specific file or folder inside your VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V VM backups. The new File System Indexing part of the Global Search feature in v10.11 allows you to create an index of all the files and folders within your VM backups. This means that when you need to recover a file or folder, you can use the Global Search feature to search the index for the required files/folders.

Backup from HPE Alletra and HPE Primera Storage Snapshots

Excessive VM snapshot activity can put a strain on the overall production environment, affecting the performance and efficiency of the entire system. When VMware VMs are hosted on HPE 3PAR and HPE Nimble devices, NAKIVO Backup & Replication allows you to create backups directly from storage snapshots instead of regular VM snapshots. This approach speeds up backup and recovery while reducing the impact of data protection activities on the production environment.

With v10.11, NAKIVO adds HPE Alletra and HPE Primera to the list of supported storage devices, expanding the scope of compatibility and making data protection even more accessible and efficient. You can back up your VMware VMs stored on HPE Alletra and HPE Primera storage devices directly from storage snapshots.

In-Place Archive Mailbox, Litigation Hold and In-Place Hold Support

As part of the NAKIVO Backup for Microsoft 365 functionality, v10.11 adds support for more types of mailbox items in Exchange Online:

  • In-Place Archive mailboxes
  • Litigation Hold items
  • In-Place Hold items

Back up the mailbox folders you need and recover the entire folder or specific files and other items to the original or a different user account. The enhancements provide expanded protection for SaaS data to help organizations comply with legal requirements and regulatory requests.

Core Solution Component Enhancement: Universal Transporter

The Transporter is a core NAKIVO Backup & Replication component, which allows the solution to communicate with Backup Repositories, and source infrastructure items for backup and recovery, among other things. Currently, when adding physical machines and hypervisor hosts to the inventory in NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you need a Transporter installed on the host to discover VMs and a physical machine agent to discover physical servers and workstations.

To simplify data protection activities and management, v10.11 features a Universal Transporter that can be used to discover and manage physical servers, virtual machines, Oracle Database via RMAN and tape devices residing on the same host.

You can significantly reduce management overhead by centralizing the backup and replication processes of these diverse workloads within one intuitive interface.
