VM Recovery for VMware and Hyper-V

With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can easily recover an entire VMware and Hyper-V VM. For each VM backup, you can have up to 4,000 recovery points and choose any of those recovery points for full VM recovery. Your backup repository can be located anywhere: in your local datacenter, in your DR location accessed via WAN, or even in a cloud.

VM recovery to original location

You can recover a VM to its original location in exactly the same state as it was during the backup, including VM disks, VM name, and MAC address.

VM recovery to a new location

If the original VM location is not available (such as when an entire host is down, for example) you can recover a VM to any other location in your local or offsite datacenter. To ensure that the VM can start and run normally in the new location, NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides the Full Synthetic recovery mode, which automatically removes environmental dependencies (such as CPU Affinity) from the VM. And you can also choose to give the recovered VM a new MAC address.

Sandbox Testing

You can recover a VM to a new location (with networking turned off or connected to a test network) and test OS and application patches before applying them to production systems.

The recovery process is simple and straightforward: just select one or multiple VMs that you want to recover and their recovery points, specify where you want to recover, set recovery options, and push a button.

Complete Recovery

NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides a simple way to recover entire VMs in an identical state as of the time of backup, giving you the ability to recover quickly from hardware and VM failures.

Consistent data

By default, NAKIVO Backup & Replication perform application-aware backups, so recovered VMs will contain consistent data of applications and databases such as Exchange, Active Directory, MS SQL, and others.

Fast VM Recovery

Due to the full synthetic data storage method, NAKIVO Backup & Replication knows which data blocks should be taken from the backup repository to reconstruct an entire VM from and incremental backup, without having to apply increments one by one. If your backup repository is located offsite and accessed over WAN, you can also enable the Network Acceleration feature to further increase up the VM recovery speed.

Secure VM Recovery

When recovering from an offsite backup repository over the Internet, you can have NAKIVO Backup & Replication encrypt the data in flight with AES 256.
