What Swap Data Is

A swap file (on Windows OS) or swap partition (on Linux OS) is a type of virtual memory where an OS stores temporary runtime data to free up RAM. Swap files/partitions can rapidly grow and decrease data protection performance.

Improved Performance

The solution can automatically exclude swap files/partitions as well as unused space from backups and replicas of VMware vSphere VMs, Microsoft Hyper-V VMs, and Amazon EC2 instance backups. This improves the speed of data protection activities and helps save storage space.

Data Consistency

The solution uses the application-aware mode to write all necessary application data to backups and replicas. This way, you can ensure that the exclusion of swap files/partitions does not affect data consistency.
